About the Project

The Year of Local is a collection of stories about people in Sarnia-Lambton that is meant to inspire the community to support the local businesses, events and organizations that make our community unique.

We believe that supporting local businesses and community organizations is important and necessary for the continued growth and prosperity of our region. Local independent businesses play an important role in our economy and help define our local identity.

Year of Local conducts interviews with local business owners and community leaders to share on the Year of Local homepage, in the weekly email and on social media. When we collected enough stories, we published them in a beautiful, hardcover book. Project sponsors receive copies of the book as part of their sponsorship. To learn more about the sponsorship levels, visit the Sponsorship page. Copies of the latest book are available for purchase at The Book Keeper.

By sharing our local stories, we inspire a shared sense of community pride in Sarnia-Lambton and ensure the future success of our local businesses and community organizations.

The best way of keeping up to date on Year of Local is by signing up for the newsletter here.
