Julie Jenkins has been with EXIT Realty since 2011. This past summer, she purchased the local franchise. Chris Gordon, who had spent the previous decade building the EXIT brand and hiring agents in Sarnia, was ready to focus his efforts elsewhere. “He was looking for that next person to continue where he had left off and build the business,” says Jenkins. While it’s been very busy personally, she has enjoyed the challenge. EXIT operates three separate offices in the region, two in Sarnia and one in Petrolia. EXIT Realty was originally established in Canada twenty years ago. Jenkins was attracted by one of EXIT’s unique characteristics. “I love the coaching, the chance to mentor and train new people,” she explains. She has always also had an entrepreneurial spirit and knew she wanted to own her own business one day. “The time was right for me to do this.”

Before joining EXIT in 2011, Jenkins worked as a recruiter for a local financial planning firm. Her position provided her with an opportunity to take part in excellent training programs and learn first-hand the habits of highly successful people. “I witnessed the behavior of a successful person. I was able to take part in these programs and I really learned a lot.” These skills have come in particularly handy as she recruits new agents to her firm. “I knew I was going to have to put a lot of hours in,” says Jenkins. “When I took over, the infrastructure was already in place. The team here is amazing. I just had to keep things moving along as I adjusted to my new role.”

Jenkins hasn’t let the demands of running her business impede her community involvement. She is a member of Toastmasters, she continues to run two successful networking groups, and she also manages the successful Sarnia Modern Women Show and Women In Networking, along with Leanne Fera. All of these activities have only helped her foster EXIT’s community-minded image. At heart, Jenkins remains committed to her business and its continued success. She genuinely wants to help home-buyers find the place that’s right for them, and that desire is woven into the fabric of the company. “The most rewarding part for me is when I watch the excitement of somebody who walks into a home and just knows that it’s the one.”

In the future, Jenkins wants to continue to build the EXIT brand in the community by expanding the number of agents working for EXIT and supporting them in their continued success. EXIT runs a unique residual income program which provides their associates with an ongoing sponsoring bonus for introducing new agents to the company. “This program is great for new agents,” says Jenkins. “Working with us comes with a built-in mentorship program.” She supports her team in many other ways as well. “I love to celebrate everyone’s successes, whether it is a little thing like getting an appointment or a big thing like selling a house.”
